I’ve been waiting for this one and I finally had some time to spend with one today. It’s the 2011 Honda CRZ Hybrid Coupe, a two-seater hybrid sports car of sorts and I wasn’t disappointed. Freaky and futuristic are the words I would choose to describe it.

Don’t be fooled by the hybrid moniker – the car can flat out get up and move!

*It’s the first car in its class that’s available with a manual or an automatic CVT transmission with paddle shifters.

*The car has three mode options: normal, sport, and eco.

*Honda did learn a lot from their failure of the Civic Hybrid the batteries were too heavy and the EPA went from an estimated 45MPG to a more realistic 33MPG. The CR Z utilizes a far lighter & more efficient Ni-MH (Nickel Metal Hydride) battery unit. Yes we are trying to get away from Nickel but that’s down the road.

*We won’t know for a while but I tend to believe their EPA of 35MPG CITY/39MPG HWY are close to reality.

The interior and user interface is state of the art! From the voice activated navigation and bluetooth, to the premium sound with USB audio interface and Windows Media Audio Playback Capability. Add to that illuminated steering wheel controls, a cooled glove box, and HID headlamps that really enhance the car’s futuristic vibe.

To sum it up the 2011 Honda CRZ Hybrid Coupe is fun, faster in the low end than you think, environmentally friendly, and has all the amenities! We love it!
